Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba has flown to New Delhi on a five-day officail visit to India at the invitation of her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar.

Minister Rana boarded a plane to New Delhi at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:30 am, the Foreign Ministry has said.

Preparations have been made to hold meetings with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Indian counterpart S Jaishankar during her India visit.

Even though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India in a statement said on Saturday that Nepal is a priority partner in India's neighborhood policy, meeting with Prime Minister Modi has not been confirmed due to busy schedule of Indian Prime Minister Modi.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is also visiting India this week at the invitation Modi. However, the officials in New Delhi have promised to make arrangements for the meeting between Rana and Modi.

Minister Rana will hold a meeting with Minister for External Affairs of India Jaishankar and discuss matters of mutual interest for further strengthening Nepal-India relations and promoting cooperation on Monday, according to the Foreign Ministry.

This visit is expected to further consolidate the age-old, deep, and multifaceted bilateral relations, the Ministry has stated.

Minister Rana will return home on August 22.
