Foreign Minister Rana to hold talks with PM Modi on Monday

Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba who embarked on a five-day official visit to India today is scheduled to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on Monday.

According to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting between Minister Rana and Prime Minister Modi will take place at Hyderabad House in New Delhi at 7:30 pm tomorrow.

Minister Rana will hand over an invitation letter to Modi for a Nepal visit on behalf of Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli during the meeting, an official at the Foreign Ministry told Nepalkhabar.

It is learnt that the meeting between visiting Minister Rana and her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar is also scheduled for Monday. She has flown to India at the invitation of External Affairs Minister of India, Jaishankar.

Even though the main objective of her India visit was originally for treatment, her Indian counterpart sent a letter to Minister Rana, giving an official recognition to her India visit.

After wrapping up her five-day India visit that includes her treatment and high-level visits, Rana will return home on August 22, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Rana, who flew to New Delhi on a five-day official visit to India, will hold meetings with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday, according to the Foreign Ministry. 

The Indian government had sent a DL 3 CCY 008 Mercedes bulletproof car to Indiragandhi International Airport to receive Minister Rana. 

She was received by Acting Nepali Ambassador Surendra Thapa and the head of the Northern Division at the External Affairs Ministry of India, Anurag Srivastav , upon her landing at Indiragandhi International Airport this afternoon. 

Her son Jaiveer Singh Deuba, daughter-in-law Shivana Shrestha, her mother Prativa Rana and younger brother Bhushan Rana among other family members, who were already in India, also joined Rana, according to sources. The Indian government has provided a bulletproof vehicle for Rana's security while in New Delhi.
