Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba has paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on Monday evening.

Held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi a while ago, in the meeting that lasted for half an hour, wiews were expressed on further deepening the Nepal-India relation. 

"I had a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in New Delhi today," Foreign Minister Rana mentioned on X following the courtesy meeting with Modi, "We discussed the multifaceted diversity of Nepal-India relations."

Similarly, Minister Rana expressed hope that this visit would take the Nepal-India ties to a new height. "I hope that this visit and our high-level meetings will elevate the historical ties between our countries to a new height," Rana said.

Minister Rana handed over an invitation from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Indian Prime Minister Modi, for a state visit to Nepal during the meeting. "I also handed over an invitation from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Prime Minister Modi ji for a state visit to Nepal," Rana mentioned on X.

In response, Prime Minister Modi received Nepal's Foreign Minister Rana with warm welcome and said that Nepal and India share close civilizational ties. "India and Nepal share close civilizational ties and a progressive and multifaceted partnership," Modi mentioned on X, anticipating continued momentum in the development partnership.

During the meeting, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri were present from the Indian side. Similarly, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Joint Secretary Bhrigu Dhungana, the head of South Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Acting Ambassador to India, Surendra Thapa, and Minister Councilor Durapada Sapkota were present during the meeting from the Nepal side.

Earlier, Minister Rana, who is currently on a five-day visit to India, held a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed multifaceted cooperation including in energy, trade, connectivity and infrastructure development.

Rana left Kathmadu for New Delhi on Sunday at the invitation of her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar. 

Rana will undergo a health checkup tomorrow and return home on August 22, wrapping up her five-day India visit.
