Foreign Minister Rana and Omani Minister discuss connectivity, tourism, exchange of diplomacy

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and her Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, have held a bilateral meeting on Tuesday.

In the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singha Durbar, two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, mutual interests, and common concerns to further enhance the Nepal-Oman relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.

The Nepal side raised the issues including connectivity, labor, investment, tourism and exchange of diplomacy, and cooperation during the meeting.

Minister Dr. Rana, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Secretary Ganesh Prasad Pandey, Nepali Ambassador to Oman, Dornath Aryal among others and Omani Foreign Minister Albusaidi and his delegation were present during the meeting.

During the meeting, Minister Rana also urged Oman for the operation of Bhairahawa and Pokhara international airports informing her counterpart that the Nepal government has introduced special incentives to attract the foreign airlines.

Earlier, Oman had operated an international flight services from Bhairahawa International Airport. In response, Minister Albusaidi said that the Oman government would rethink of it.

Similarly, Rana also raised issues related to rights and facilities of Nepali migrant workers saying that Oman is the lucrative destination for employment.

In response, Minister Albusaidi assured that the Oman government will take more Nepali workers in the future saying that Nepali youths are honest, hardworking and dedicated to their works.

The two leaders agreed to sign a labor agreement between the two countries to this effect during the meeting.
