CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to withdraw its support to the Koshi Province government.

Province lawmaker Durga Chapagain said the Maoist Center is making preparations to formally withdraw its support to the Koshi government this afternoon.

Similarly, the province secretariat of Koshi Province will be informed in writing about the withdrawal of the support today itself, Chapagain said.

Maoist Center lawmakers had lent support to UML leader Hikmat Karki to become the Chief Minister of Koshi Province in line with Article 168 (5) of the Constitution.

The Maoist Center pulled out of the Koshi Province government after major parties – Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) -- formed an alliance at the center. Chief Minister Karki had taken the vote of confidence on May 14.

The Maoist Center is withdrawing its support to the Karki-led government today.
