Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has apologized for failing to make the ambassadorial recommendation inclusive.

Parliamentarians raised questions about this issue in the meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee under the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

In response, Minister Rana said, “Ambassadorial appointment could not be made inclusive this time, we will recommend Dalits and Muslims in the next appointment. I'm sorry.”

When ambassadors were proposed for 18 countries, there is zero representation from Dalit, Madhesi and Muslim communities. Meanwhile, the International Relations and Tourism Committee has drawn the attention of the government to consider inclusion in the future.

The Committee has decided to draw the attention of the Nepal government to take into account the principle of proportional inclusion while recommending Nepali ambassadors to various countries in the future, invoking Articles 42 and 282 of the Constitution of Nepal and the Ambassador's Appointment Guideline, 2075.
