Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that there are no differences between Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) on the issue of multiparty democratic republican system.

Addressing a program organized to mark the establishment day of the Nepal Civil Service Employees' Union in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Deuba claimed that NC and UML are ardent defenders of the multiparty democratic republican system ruling out the differences between the two big parties on this issue.

“There are differences between NC and UML on the issue of federal democratic republican political system,” said Deuba, “Hence, we have a full support for this government. We have similar views on some crucial issues even though NC and UML are two arch-rivals.”

Deuba said, being the arch-rivals, there might be, of course, some differences between NC and UML on some issues. “However, they are not beyond solution, it is our duty to resolve them,” said Deuba.

“It is our duty to resolve differences. There is nothing to worry about. I am confident that we (Oli and me) in collaboration with other parties can further strengthen and institutionalize the federal democratic republic,” said Deuba.

Meanwhile, he directed civil servants to fully implement the government decisions without worries.

“The country is undergoing a difficult time, currently. I am hopeful that leaders of the Union will work more actively at this challenging phase. They know where the challenge is. We have got to safeguard the democratic political system. We all should stand united for it,” said Deuba.
