Jilted mother and her son killed in cold blood in Udayapur

A mother and her son were ruthlessly murdered at Katari Municipality-10, in Udayapur district on Thursday morning.

The body of 40-year-old Nirmala Thapa and her six-year-old son, Arush Thapa, were found murdered in her own shop at Sorung Chhabise this morning. Nirmala was running a shop nearby the ward office, the police said.

According to ward chair Chhetra Bahadur Khadka, the customers who came to buy grocery items saw the bodies of the mother and the son.

“The mother’s body was found lying prone on the floor while the son’s body was lying in the bed drenched in blood,” said ward chair Khadka, “Arush’s body had knife injuries.”

A team of police has reached the incident site and is investigating the case, said Police Inspector of Area Police Office, Katari, Umesh Mahato.

The incident site lies 32 kilometers to the north in the hilly region of Katari Bazaar.

According to ward chair Khadka, the husband of deceased Nirmala, Ashok Thapa, had eloped with a second wife to India two years ago.

Her house was 300 meters away from the shop. They stayed in the shop on Wednesday night when the incident occurred.
