Two killed after being swept away by swollen rivulet in Rukum West

Two people have died after the motorcycle they were riding were swept away by floods in Rukum West.

A woman and a man were swept away by the flooded Ramba rivulet flowing between wards 6 and 7 of Musikot Municipality, the police said.

According to the District Police Office, Rukum West, the deceased are Sarjan Pun, 50, of Musikot Municipality-4 and Nirmala Thapa 33, of Musikot-6.

The victims were heading to Kaniya village from Sankh on a motorcycle, Ra 6 Pa 2961 when they were swept away by the swollen rivulet on Sunday evening.

The body of the woman was recovered 300 meters downstream of the rivulet and that of the man 20 meters downstream of the rivulet.

The bodies of the flood victims have been taken to the District Hospital for postmortem, the police said.
