Home Minister Lekhak briefs PM on Nepal Police and APF-related draft bill

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has briefed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the bill related to performance, supervision and coordination of the Nepal Police, and the bill related to formation, operation and terms and conditions of the Armed Police Force.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is making preparations to enact new laws for Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.  Home Minister Lekhak has announced that new laws will be enacted within 100 days of his appointment as the home minister.

Home Minister who held a consultation with high-ranking officials on Sunday afternoon briefed Prime Minister Oli on the draft bill later in the evening, informed the Home Minister’s secretariat.

Participating in the discussion on the draft bill in Baluwatar included Prime Minister Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Paudel, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, secretaries of both the ministries and chiefs of both the security agencies.

Home Minister Lekhak claimed that the discussion ended on a positive note. The draft bill has been sent to the Ministry of Finance, the home ministry has sent.

Lekhak has expressed commitment that he will take the bill to the parliament within 100 days of his appointment as the home minister.

Once Finance Ministry approves it, the draft bill be sent to the Law Ministry for approval. Then the draft will be forwarded to the Council of Ministers.
