The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Imad N. Fakhoury, the Regional Director for South Asia, International Finance Corporation (IFC), have discussed promoting economic reforms in Nepal.
Convened at the central office of the FNCCI in Teku on Monday, the two leaders held discussions on bolstering cooperation between the two organizations -- FNCCI and IFC -- thereby promoting the economic reforms in the country.
Posting a message on social media following the meeting, FNCCI President Dhakal said, “We discussed promoting economic reforms in Nepal by strengthening cooperation between the FNCCI and IFC during the meeting.”
The discussions also focused on joint initiatives made by the two organizations to the upcoming programs and plans to consolidate the development of the private sector during an hour-long meeting, according to Dhakal.
IFC had appointed Fakhoury as Regional Director for South Asia in January 2024. Based in New Delhi, Fakhoury spearheads IFC's strategy and operations, while reinforcing relationships with the private sector, governments, and regional partners to boost impactful development outcomes in the region.
IFC — a member of the World Bank Group — is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. It provided nearly $3.45 billion in long-term investments in South Asia, including $1.3 billion mobilized from other investors in FY 2023.
