The Nepal government has recommended Nepali Congress leader and former Deputy Speaker, Chitra Lekha Yadav, as the Nepali Ambassador to Australia.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Baluwatar this evening recommended Yadav as the Ambassador to Australia.

The post was lying vacant after Kanta Rijal, who was earlier recommended for Australia, was removed from the list over controversy.

Nepali Congress recommended Yadav from the Madheshi Community at a time when the recommendation of ambassadors courted controversies on the ground of not being inclusive.

The President will appoint Yadav as the ambassador to Australia after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee endorses her candicacy.
