A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the government to appoint Deepak Raj Joshi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board.

Dhananjaya Regmi, another competitor for the same post, has today filed a writ petition seeking an order asking the government not to implement the decision to appoint Joshi.

In petition, Regmi has argued that Joshi was appointed against the rules using discretionary powers rather than being based on the outcome of the examinations taken for the same.

The meeting of the NTB Board of Directors on Thursday had decided to appoint Joshi as the CEO. Joshi has already assumed his post.

Meanwhile, a writ petition had been filed at the High Court Patan, demanding immediate collection of fees from industrialists who used power supply from dedicated feeders and trunk lines.

The writ petition filed today by advocates Yagyamani Neupane, Kamal Prasad Pokharel, Tika Prasad Dhakal and Deepak Adhikari also calls for annulment of the decision taken by the Council of Ministers and other agencies stopping the payment of the arrears to Nepal Electricity Authority from the industrialists, organizations and individuals who have used dedicated feeder and trunk lines.

The petitioners have called for a mandamus order asking the concerned authorities to collect the due payments of Nepal Electricity Authority and action against the defendants who have failed to pay and delayed the payments.
