Indrajatra festival is being observed by worshipping Devraj Indra, the god of rains and good harvest in the Kathmandu Valley today.
The festival which falls on Bhadra Shukla Chaturdashi is also celebrated in Dhulikhel and Dolakha outside the Valley.
President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol among other dignitaries attended a program organized at Basantapur to mark the Indrajatra festival.
Indrajatra, which started by erecting a wooden pole amidst religious rituals in front of Hanuman Dhoka from Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi, lasts for eight days.
