The highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026 final between defending champions Argentina and European powerhouses Spain reached halftime in a tactical deadlock. The first half concluded with a 0-0 scoreline at the New York New Jersey Stadium, leaving the ultimate fate of the tournament's 104th match hanging in the balance.

Although Spain enjoyed spells of dominance and looked slightly more threatening in possession, a lack of clinical finishing kept them from breaching the Argentine defense. Both heavyweights operated under immense pressure, resulting in a fierce midfield battle but precious few clear-cut opportunities as they fought tooth and nail for the opening goal.

Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, U.S. President Donald Trump made his first live appearance of the tournament, taking his seat alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Marking a historic milestone, this final serves as the crowning moment of the first-ever 48-team World Cup, co-hosted jointly across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. President Trump is scheduled to personally present the iconic trophy to the winning captain following the conclusion of the match.

The stakes could not be higher as both nations resume play after an extended 30-minute halftime break. Defending champions Argentina are chasing their fourth world title following historic triumphs in 1978, 1986, and 2022. Meanwhile, 2010 champions Spain are aiming to end a 16-year drought to capture their second global crown.
