Vacant posts in constitutional bodies must be filled immediately: Prachanda

Former Prime Minister and chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ stressed the need to recommend names in the vacant posts of constitutional bodies.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli called a meeting with main opposition leader Prachanda and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as part of preparation for the Constitutional Council (CC) meeting at Baluwatar this morning.

Speaking during the meeting, Prachanda emphasized that the names be recommend for all the vacant posts in constitutional bodies, if possible, by tomorrow, his secretariat has said.

“The recommendation should be made for all the vacant posts in constitutional bodies by tomorrow, if possible. If not, even by reaching a next consensus, the vacant posts must be fulfilled at the earliest,” Prachanda’s secretariat quoted him as saying in the meeting.

Prime Minister Oli convened the joint meeting with the leader of the major coalition partner NC and the Chair of the CPN (Maoist Center), the major opposition, in view of the preparations for a meeting of the Constitutional Council and to discuss other contemporary issues. 

The meeting was held in the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar. It may be noted that the CC meeting earlier scheduled for Wednesday evening had been postponed.
