A joint military exercise called 'Pacific Angel 24' between the Nepali Army and US Army is beginning in Kathmandu, Makwanpur and Dhading from today.
The Nepali Army will receive training on disaster-related search and rescue operations through a modified and upgraded US Air Force 'HC-130J Combat King' as part of military exercises.
"During the exercise, teams will focus on crucial skills like aeromedical evacuation, casualty evacuation, infectious disease control, and patient movement," said the US Embassy, Nepal, " A U.S. Air Force HC-130J Combat King II, a specially modified and upgraded airplane to perform search-and-rescue missions, will be used to train the Nepali Army in disaster response operations."
This exercise is designed to boost coordination between the Nepali Army and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and showcase their capabilities in Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief.
The Nepali Army and the United States Army have been conducting military exercises for a long time, with the aim of enhancing the disaster response capacity by exchanging experience in the field of disaster management and humanitarian assistance and peacekeeping operations.
The exchange of expertise through these types of exercises is helping to improve the military's professional capabilities, the Nepali Army said
