The driver of a Bolero jeep with the registration number Ba 20 Cha 2185 that plunged into the Bhotekoshi River on Friday is still accounted for.
DSP Niranjan Bhattarai of District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk informed that Bolero jeep driver Sanu Sherpa of around 38 years has not been found till Sunday morning.
"A search operation is underway. We are also mobilizing trained divers from today as part of search operations," said Bhattarai.
The missing jeep which veered off the road at Chhyaksa along the Bahrabisi-Tatopati road section on Friday was retrieved with the help of a crane on Friday evening.
A 35-year-old woman Suntali Tamang who was traveling in the jeep was found dead. Her body was retrieved on Saturday. Locals had informed the police after they saw a tyre of the jeep some 100 meters below the Arniko Highway at Chhyaksa in Bahrabise Municipality-6 on Friday evening. However, there were no bodies inside the jeep.
It was found that driver Sanu Sherpa and Suntali Tamang were missing in the river after their kin informed the police.
The police had started searching the missing vehicle and was able to retrieve it after seven hours of rigorous search last Friday. While the body of Suntali was recovered on Saturday, Sherpa is still unaccounted for, the police said.
