One killed, 42 injured in Bara bus accident

A person has died and 42 others sustained injuries in a bus accident in Bara district, the police said.

The bus, Na 8 Kha 1164, heading to Dang from Biratnagar fell off the bridge at Nijgadh Municipality-8 along the East West Highway in the wee hours of Monday (12:30 am), DSP Prakash Sapkota of District Police Office, Bara said.

"The deceased has been identified as 45-year Chetan Raya Yadav of Gadwa Rural Municipality-5, Dang," Sapkota told Nepalkhar, "Yadave breathed his last in the course of treatment at Bayodha Hospital in Birgunj this morning."

The condition of seven among 42 injured is critical. "The critically injured seven people are undergoing treatment at Bayodha Hospital," DSP Sapkota said, " The remaining 36 people who sustained minor injuries are being treated at various hospitals in Nijgadh."

Twenty seven among those injured are receiving treatment at Prashuti Hospital, Nijgadh while the eight are being treated at City Hospital.

The condition of driver Bal Bahadur Bhandari, 40, of Sharada Municipality-3, Salyan, is critical, said the police.
