President Ramchandra Paudel has reached Basantapur Durbar Square to participate in Indrajatra festival on Tuesday afternoon.
President Paudel walked on foot to Basantapur.
Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Mayor Sunita Dangol, among others, welcomed President Paudel.
High-ranking officials including the President do walk to Basantapur on foot from the statue of Juddha Shumsher since last year.
The President, Prime Minister, Speaker and high-ranking officials have been invited to the program organized at Basantapur to mark Indrajatra.
The festival is observed by worshiping Devraj Indra, the god of rains and good harvest. There is a tradition that the President will visit Basantapur to observe Indrajatra.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is also scheduled to reach Basantapur to observe the festival, the Prime Minister's secretariat said.
