Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has addressed a parliamentary forum on 'Financing the Future' in New York today.
In his address to the forum, Prime Minister Oli, as the Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries (LDCs), urged the state parties to honor the climate commitments including transitioning from fossil fuels to clean energy.
"Prime Minister urged the state parties to honor the climate commitments including transitioning from fossil fuels," Nepal Mission to the UN tweeted, "He also stressed enhanced climate finance to LDCs to tackle climate change impacts."
Earlier, Prime Minister Oli, who is in New York to attend the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, met with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Held on the sidelines of the ongoing UNGA a while ago, Prime Minister Oli and Secretary-General Guterres discussed various matters related to transitional justice, climate change, sustainable development, and peacekeeping.
"They exchanged views on deepening Nepal-UN relations and discussed various matters including transitional justice, sustainable development, climate change, and peacekeeping," Nepal Mission to the UN mentioned on X.
Similarly, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Sunday at 5:30 pm (September 22), according to New York time.
Prime Minister Oli is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor to PM, Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and other senior officials.
Oli who left for the UN Headquarters in New York, leading a Nepali delegation to the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), will return to Nepal on September 30.
