Two people were buried to death in Humla on Wednesday while digging clay for decorating their houses during Dashain.

According to the District Police Office, Humla, the deceased are 24-year-old Dhruba Shahi and 24-year-old Mansara Malla of Tanjakot Rural Municipality-3.

They were buried by a mound of white clay when they were digging the clay at Aul in Siyani River at 8 am today.

Deceased Dhruba Shahi is also a technician at the employment branch of Tanjkot Rural Municipality, the police said.

Similarly, Lal Bahadur Shahi, 26, of Ram village, who had gone with them to collect the white clay (seto kamero), sustained injuries.

There is a tradition that most of the locals in Humla use white clay to decorate their houses during Dashain.

The police said their bodies have been kept at the office of the rural municipality and a team of doctors from Simkot has left the incident site for post-mortem.
