The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has endorsed the recommendation of Chitralekha Yadav as the ambassador to Australia.

A meeting of the PHC on Wednesday endorsed the recommendation of Yadav.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on September 9 had recommended Yadav, who is also the deputy speaker, as the ambassador of Nepal to Australia on the quota of Nepali Congress.

The position of Nepali Ambassador to Australia was lying vacant after Kanta Rijal's recommendation courted controversies.

NC recommended Yadav from the Madhesi community for the post at a time when there had been criticisms that the ambassadorial recommendation was not inclusive.

Now, she will be appointed as the Nepali ambassador to Australia by the President.
