Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has taken the oath of office and secrecy as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

President Ramchandra Paudel administered newly elected Chief Justice Raut the oath of office and secrecy amidst a ceremony held at Shital Niwas a while ago.

President Paudel appointed Raut as the new Chief Justice of Nepal in line with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council this morning.

The post of Chief Justice was lying vacant after outgoing Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha retired on Saturday on the ground of 65-year age limit.
