As many as 124,000 foreign tourists visited Nepal in the month of October.
This is the record number of foreigners in the year following the coronavirus pandemic and an increment by six percent compared to the previous year.
However, this number of tourists is lower than the pre-pandemic period of 2019.
In the year 2019, a total of 134,000 tourists had visited Nepal. Similarly, 117,000 tourists had visited Nepal in 2023.
October saw an equal number of Indian and American tourists in Nepal. While 16,313 tourists came to Nepal from India, 16,023 tourists visited Nepal from America in the past month, according to the statistics maintained by the Nepal Tourism Board. Similarly, Nepal recorded 8,019 tourists from the UK, 7,750 from China and 6,929 from Australia during the period.
The other tourists who visited Nepal in October were 5,485 from France, 4,476 from Bangladesh, and 3,124 from Sri Lanka, according statistics maintained by NTB.
