Nepal and China have joined hands to host the 2024 Nepal Pokhara International Mountain Cross Country Competition and Pokhara-Kunming International Friendship Cities League in Pokhara on November 9.
With the slogan "Run for Common Prosperity," this year's event, aims to implement the global civilization initiative, promote sports and cultural cooperation between China and Nepal, and boost Nepal's tourism economy, said a press note issued by the organizer.
According to the press note, the event, open to both Nepali and Chinese athletes, will feature four categories: 50km Challenge Individual Race (Male and Female), 50km Team Race, and Students and Love Run.
A prize money of NPR 450000, 340,000, 220,000, 150,000,100,000 shall be awarded to the respective first, second, third, fourth and fifth winners from team category.
Likewise, in the individual competition, the top three finishers will receive NPR 150,000, 120,000, and 80,000, respectively. A total of 10 individuals will be awarded prizes in this category. Additionally, participants in the Students and Love Run will receive t-shirts and certificates.
A Sichuan Airlines charter flight carrying Chinese athletes from Kunming landed at Pokhara International Airport at 8:55 am today.
Yunnan-Kunming Friendship Park Project opening ceremony and Yunnan Photo Exhibition opening ceremony will be held in Pokhara on Friday (November 8), according to the schedule.
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board, National Sports Council Nepal, China Yunnan Provincial Sports Bureau, Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province of China, Gandaki Provincial Government, Pokhara Metropolitan City, and other relevant organizations and associations from China and Nepal are jointly organizing this event.
This Sino-Nepali event has been held annually in Pokhara for the past 4 to 5 years.
