Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has finalized four candidates for local-level by-elections to be held on December 1.
According to Nepali Congress leader Min Bishwakarma, the NC has finalized its candidates for Gramthan Rural Municipality of Morang district, Mahabu Rural Municipality of Dailekh, Gaurishankar Rural Municipality of Dolakha and Nalgad Municipality of Jajarkot.
Nepali Congress has decided to field Balaram Sardar as a candidate in Gramthan Rural Municipality, said Nepali Congress Morang District President Dig Bahadur Limbu. Sardar is the former Mahasamiti member of the Nepali Congress. The position was lying vacant after Jaya Prakash Tharu of Nepali Congress passed away.
Similarly, Jhalak Bahadur Bhandari has been fielded for the post of chairman of Mahabu Rural Municipality of Dailekh. According to NC Dailekh District President Maniram Regmi, Bhandari's name was finalized among 15 candidates aspiring for the post.
Likewise, the Nepali Congress has decided to field Indra Chanda Singh in the by-elections for the post of Deputy Mayor of Nalgad Municipality. A meeting of the Karnali Province Committee of the Nepali Congress took a decision to this effect.
Similarly, Nepali Congress has decided to field Pasdiki Sherpa for the post of vice chairman in Gauri Shankar Rural Municipality of Dolakha district.
The post was lying vacant after former Vice Chairman Shyam Sundar Tamang died of cardiac arrest on July 16, 2023.
The by-elections are being held for 44 posts including two chiefs of district coordination committees, two chairpersons of rural municipalities, four vice-chairpersons, one mayor, one deputy mayor and 34 ward chairs on coming December 1.
