Nepal beats UAE to qualify for ICC U-19 Women's World Cup

Nepal has qualified for the ICC U-19 World Cup by defeating UAE by eight wickets in the ICC U-19 Women's World Cup Asia Qualifier held in UAE.

Chasing the 84-run target set for Nepal by UAE, Nepal reached it in 14.4 overs losing only 2 wickets.

With the win, Nepal has qualified for the World Cup and been placed in Group D with Australia, Bangladesh, and Scotland. The U-19 World Cup will be held in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2.

Despite having 10 points from 6 matches, Nepal advanced to the World Cup on net run rate, edging out UAE. Nepal's net run rate is 3.9353 in the points table while UAE's is 3.7403.

Nepal and UAE have dominated the league stage, each winning 5 of their 6 matches.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Sevens Stadium in Ajman on Wednesday, UAE notched only 83 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Samaira Dharnidharka's 31-run score was the highest for UAE, followed by Rinitha Rajith with 20 runs while Lavanya Keny and Indhuja Nandakumar contribute 10 runs each. The other batters could not score any runs.

In reply, Krishma Gurung took the highest 4 wickets giving 17 runs while Riya Sharma and Sima KC took 2 wickets each. Similarly, Rachana Kumari Chaudhary claimed one wicket for Nepal.

This was the final match between Nepal and UAE under the World Cup Asia Qualifier which kicked off on November 6. Under the World Cup Asia Qualifiers, Nepal has secured five wins and one loss out of six matches played.  

In the first match, Nepal defeated Thailand by 67 runs. Similarly, in the second match, Nepal defeated Kuwait by 108 runs. In the third match, Nepal lost to the home team UAE by 13 runs.

Nepal defeated Thailand by 106 runs in the fourth match on Sunday. In the fifth match on Tuesday, Nepal defeated Kuwait by a wide margin of 165 runs.

Nepal, Kuwait and Thailand had participated in the tournament along with the host UAE.
