BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is headed for a massive victory in Maharashtra while, INDIA bloc has crossed half-way mark in Jharkhand, trends show.
Counting of votes began in Maharashtra and Jharkhand at 8 am on Saturday.
The two states held their assembly elections on Wednesday, with Maharashtra voting for all 288 seats and Jharkhand for the second phase of its polls. The results for both the states is awaited today.
Exit polls predicted that the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is likely to form the government in Maharashtra, while in Jharkhand, the BJP-led NDA is projected to replace the incumbent JMM government.
In Maharashtra, the Republic TV-PMARQ exit poll estimated the Mahayuti alliance could secure 137-157 seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) could win 126-147 seats, and others 2-8 seats. The Matrize exit poll projected 150-170 seats for Mahayuti and 110-130 seats for MVA, with others securing 8-10 seats.
Chanakya Strategies predicted a narrower win for Mahayuti with 152-150 seats, while MVA could get 130-138 seats, and others 6-8 seats.
People's Pulse exit poll was more optimistic for Mahayuti, projecting 175-195 seats, while MVA could get 85-112 seats and others 7-12 seats. The majority mark in Maharashtra is 145 seats.
In Jharkhand, Chanakya Strategies predicted the NDA would win 45-50 seats, while the JMM-led alliance would secure 35-38 seats, with others winning 3-5 seats. People's Pulse suggested the NDA could win 44-53 seats, with the JMM-led alliance securing 25-37 seats, and others 5-9 seats. Matrize's exit poll projected 42-47 seats for the NDA and 25-30 seats for the INDIA alliance, with others winning 1-4 seats. (ToI)
