Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that no agreements concerning loans will be signed during his upcoming visit to China.

Prime Minister Oli said this during a consultation meeting with former prime ministers and foreign ministers convened in Singha Durbar a while ago.

Dismissing the rumor that Nepal would fall a prey to debt trap if loans were taken, Prime Minister Oli said, "Nepal can take loans or grants from any nation or organization, as long as it aligns with national interests and needs."

Oli further said that sovereignty, independence and national interest would be prioritized when it comes to embarking on foreign visits.

Prime Minister Oli convened the meeting with former prime ministers and former foreign ministers at the Prime Minister's Office, in Singha Durbar, to seek suggestions for his upcoming China visit.

Prime Minister Oli is visiting China from December 2.

Former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Madhav Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, former Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khilraj Regmi, among others took part in the meeting. However, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba did not attend the  meeting.

Similarly, Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, former Foreign Ministers Narayan Kaji Shrestha, NP Saud, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, and former Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel also participated in the meeting.
