ACC U-19 Asia Cup: Nepal loses to Bangladesh by 5 wickets

Nepal has lost to Bangladesh by 5 wickets in its second match under the ACC U-19 Asia Cup.

Chasing the 142-run target set by Nepal, Bangladesh reached it in 28.4 overs losing 5 wickets.

To secure win against Nepal, Bangladeshi batsman Zawad Abrar made the highest 59 runs including 5 fours and 4 sixes off 65 deliveries followed by captain Azizul Hakim with 52 not out runs. Hakim hit 2 fours and 3 sixes off 72 deliveries. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

On the bowling side, Yuvraj Khatri took the highest 4 wickets giving away 23 runs while Hemant Dhami claimed 1 wicket for Nepal.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE on Sunday, the Nepali youth team scored 141 runs in 45.4 overs, losing all wickets.

Opener Aakash Tripathi topped the score with 43 runs for Nepal. He hit 5 fours off 77 balls.

Wicketkeeper Uttam Thapa Magar was run out after scoring 29 runs. Abhishek Tiwari contributed 29 runs. The other batsmen could not make the double-digit score.

On the bowling side, Rizan Hossan, Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon took 2 wickets each while Azizul Hakim, Md Rafi Uzzaman Rafi and Saad Islam took 1 wicket each for Bangladesh.

Nepal will not play the final group stage match with Afghanistan on Tuesday.
