Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)'s Rojina Shrestha has been elected as the chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.
Shrestha won the elections with 1,584 votes, defeating big parties. Her closest rival Devendra Pathak of Nepali Congress received 1,304 votes. Similarly, CPN (UML)'s candidate Lakshmi Ratna Tuladhar obtained 1,218 votes, the Election Office said.
In the election held in 2079 BS, NC's Mukunda Rijal had been elected as the chairperson by securing 4,019 votes. UML's Lakshmi Ratna Tuladhar had obtained 3,310 votes while Unified Socialist's Lakshman Gamal secured 1,589 votes during that period.
