US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu returns home

US Assistant Secretary of State, Donald Lu.

The United States (US) Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, returned home by wrapping up his two-day-long visit to Nepal.

During his visit to Nepal, Lu met with Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel and other leaders and discussed the bilateral economic cooperation and issues of mutual interests.

Likewise, Lu took part in the ceremonial kickoff of the Gender Equity and Equality Action grant with the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and connected with the US Youth Council.

It is said that Lu also visited Bhaktapur, recognized Nepal's rich cultural heritage as a cornerstone of Nepal's identity and a key driver of tourism and economy.

The US Embassy stated that Lu's visit was a trip filled with dynamic exchanges and reinforced continued progress in key areas including sustainable development, gender equality, and community empowerment. (RSS)
