Lumbini loses its last match; Karnali inches closer to NPL playoff

Karnali Yaks has defeated Lumbini Lions by 5 runs in the 22nd match of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL).

Lumbini, already crashed out of the ongoing NPL, has also lost its final match while Karnali's chance of reaching the playoff is still alive.

Karnali stopped Lumbini to 123 runs with the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs while the latter was chasing the 129 runs target. 

Tom Moores made the highest 36 runs including 4 fours and 1 six off 35 balls followed by Sundeep Jora with 24 runs while Ashutosh Ghiraiya,  Saad Bin Zafar, Arjun Saud Rohit Paudel, 16, 16, 13 and 10 runs, respectively.

In reply, Zeeshan Maqsood took the highest 2 wickets followed by  Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Bipin Sharma, William Bosisto grabed 1 wicket each.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground on Friday, Karnali Yaks, notched up 128 runs losing eight wickets in the 20 overs.

William Bosisto topped the score with 44 runs including 3 fours and 3 sixes followed by Arjun Gharti with 25 runs while Babar Hayat and Chadwick Walton 20 and 13 run, respectively. The batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

On the bowling side, Bikash Aagri took the highest 3 runs followed by Tilak Bhandari with 2 wickets while Ramon Simmonds, Saad Bin Zafar and Rohit Paudel grabbed 1 wicket each.
