2025 to 2035 to be observed as Tourism Decade: Minister Pandey

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey said that preparations were afoot to designate the year 2025 to 2035 as the Tourism Decade.

Minister Pandey said so while responding to the queries of parliamentarians at the meeting of Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee of the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Highlighting the need for financial preparations for the Tourism Decade celebration, Pandey shared that discussions were ongoing regarding securing the State's investment and potential foreign assistance for this tourism promotion initiative.

On a different note, the Minister stated that they had been addressing the problems prevailing the culture, tourism and aviation sector on the basis of priority.

"Whenever there is a request for assistance for Stupa, Temple and mosque related affairs, we prioritize them. We assess how much federal, provincial and local government could contribute for that cause and advance the cause on priority basis," the Minister explained.

As for management of airports and their construction, protection and repair and maintenance, he said that feasibility study was being conducted evaluating the needs of the airports.

He added that feasibility study was underway to improve all operational airports and ensure excellence in every aspect.

Minister Pandey further mentioned that a policy decision has been made according to which all printing press related works of the government shall be carried out by the press located at the Nepal Academy.
