Mukkumlung protectors announce fresh protest as talks on Pathivara cable car strikes no chords

The agitating group opposing the Pathivara cable car has announced yet another protest programs after the  negotiation between the representatives of the government and the Mukkumlung protectors on Monday ended inclusively.

As many as 11 organizations and 10 inter-party political parties of Mukkumlung Tangshep Chumbho, who have been opposing the cable car, have issued a joint statement and announced the protest.

In the statement, they have announced to boycott the IME Group including Global IME Bank from February 11 to 21.

They have made public their protest programs including holding a Save Mukkumalung Walk from February 18 to 20, picketing the office of Phungling Municipality to pressure for the cancellation of the cable car permit and agreement, urging not to transport cable car construction materials, and holding protest meetings in Kathmandu, Itahari and Birtamod.

Their protest program also includes submitting a memorandum to all district administration offices in Koshi Province, demanding the cancellation of the cable car construction agreement.

The agitating group in the statement warned that an indefinite transport shutdown and general strike would be called if the government fails to address their demands.
