Two people including an eight-month-old toddler have been murdered ruthlessly at Bhume Rural Municipality-4 in Rukum East.
The victims are identified as 60-year-old Dhanti Budha and her grandson eight-month-old Samir, Police Inspector Him Bahadur KC told Nepalkhabar, the information officer at the District Police Office, Rukum East.
Their bodies were found at Sakim in Bhume Rural Municipality-4 at around 3 pm yesterday.
The murder-accused Chandra Singh Pun, 51, was also found dead 300 meters from the incident site where the bodies of Dhanti Budha and her grandson were found.
According to eyewitnesses, Chandra Singh, a shaman in the village, murdered them with a sharp khukuri over a minor dispute. The murdered accused apparently may have died after falling off a cliff while fleeing the scene.
"Pun killed the grandmother and her grandson with a sharp khukuri over a minor dispute," Inspector KC told Nepalkhabar, "The body of the murder-accused was also found around 300 meters from the incident site. Pun apparently may have died after falling off a cliff while fleeing the scene. We are investigating the case."
Pun, a shaman in the village, had been at odds with Budha's family, of late. The distance between the house of the victims' family and the murder-accused is 100 meters.
The parents of the toddler were working in the field when sexagenarian Budha and her grandson came under attack, the police said.
