A woman has died, and two others, including her 11-year-old son, sustained critical injuries after a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw on the East-West Highway in Hetauda-11, Thanabharyang.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Puja Bamjan from Khairghari, Manahari Rural Municipality-6, Makwanpur.
The incident occurred on Friday evening around 8 PM when a truck (Na 4 Kha 2496) heading toward Chitwan collided with an auto-rickshaw (Na 1 Ha 8308) coming from the opposite direction.
Bamjan, who sustained critical injuries passed away in the course of treatment at the Churehill Hospital in Thanabharyang, on Friday night.
Among the injured are Bamjan's 11-year-old son, Amrit, and the auto-rickshaw driver, 25-year-old Raju Thing from Basghari, Hetauda-19. The condition of the auto-rickshaw driver is reported to be critical, while Amrit's condition is normal, according to the District Police Office, Makwanpur.
The truck driver, 48-year-old Kancha Rai from Piple, Rapti Municipality-2, Chitwan, has been taken into police custody.
