Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Dhanraj Acharya, were injured when a balloon exploded during the inauguration of the Pokhara Visit Year 2025.
Mayor Acharya sustained minor injuries to his face when the balloon blasted. He has been taken to Fishtail Hospital for treatment.
Similarly, Minister Paudel sustained minor injuries. He was also on the stage when the incident occurred. He is undergoing treatment at Gandaki Hospital, the Finance Minister's secretariat told Nepalkhabar. He will return to Kathmandu after receiving minor treatment.
The flame from the activated automatic switch ignited the hydrogen in the balloon, triggering an explosion.
The Pokhara Visit Year 2025 is taking place at the Exhibition Center in Pokhara Metropolitan City-9, Naya Bazaar.
