The Tribhuvan University (TU) Executive Council has set an age-limit for students to run in the Free Students Union (FSU) elections scheduled for March 18.
Candidates willing to contest the FSU elections must be on the voter list and under 28 years of age to be eligible to run in the election, according to the Free Student Union Election Directive-2081issued by the TU Executive Council. Further, they are not allowed to file their candidacies for more than one post.
"For instance, if the nomination is filed on March 11, 2025, a candidate's date of birth must be March 11, 1997 or born later than this date to qualify for the FSU elections scheduled for March 18," reads the Directive-2081issued by the Council.
Individuals employed by government bodies, institutions, or holding government jobs are ineligible to run in FSU elections.
Similarly, the Council has set criteria for students to qualify for the elections.
"The students who have completed final semesters or taken final theoretical exams are ineligible to run in the elections," reads the directive.
The students must be admitted to the first semester of a master's program, the bachelor's program, or the first year of the bachelor's program as per the admission deadline set by the Registrar's Office or the Dean's Office.
