Bus carrying students on educational tour from Bajura to Nepalgunj crashes on Karnali Highway

A bus carrying students on an education tour met with an accident in Surkhet along the Karnali Highway on Sunday evening.

"The ill-fated bus, Sudurpaschim Province 01001 Kha 3054, carrying 26 students from Bhanudaya School in Bajura on an educational tour to Nepalgunj crashed at Barahatal Rural Municipality-5, Aapkholi, at 5 pm today," the District Police Office, Surkhet said.

The bus went out of control apparently due to brake failure and fell some 10 meters down the road. Two among those students were injured in the accident, according to the police.

The injured are 18-year-old Hemraj Jaishi and Sunil Raj Upadhyaya of Budhiganga Municipality-6, Bajura, according to the Police Post, Baddichaur.

The injured have been taken to Karnali Province Hospital, Kalagaun, Surkhet for treatment.

The condition of other students is normal. While Jaishi has sustained injuries to both of his hands, legs and backbone, Upadhya has an injury to his chest.
