Choodamani Gautam, a renowned linguist, grammarian, and lexicographer, has passed away. He was 82.
Octogenarian Gautam passed away in the course of treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu on Monday. He had been suffering from chronic liver cirrhosis, according to his family sources.
Gautam has written more than 100 books including Gautam Grammar, Brihattar Nepali Sabdakosh, Baphre Jindagi (autography), and Ksha Ko Sahi Uchcharan Ra Prayog, among his works to his credit.
Born in 2000 BS at Paktin in Aathrai Rural Municipality-2, Tehrathum, he later moved to Kathmandu and resided in Dilli Bazaar, Kathmandu until his passing today.
He was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat today itself.
He is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter.
Gautam's Higher Level English Grammar, Composition, and Pronunciation, published in 2037 BS, gained him popularity among high school and college students.
