A young man died and two others sustained critical injuries in a jeep accident at Amarapur in Hilihang Rural Municipality-1, Panchthar on Wednesday evening, the police said.
The accident occurred when a Bolero jeep (Me 1 Ja 3073) was returning after dropping off students from Mangsewa Boarding School to their homes.
Hemraj Yogi, 35, of Hilihang-1, died in the accident. He was taken to Panchthar Hospital for treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead. His body has been kept at the hospital for a post-mortem.
Binod Tamang, 26, and Manish Lingden, 20, both residents of Hilihang-1, were injured in the accident. Tamang, who sustained serious injuries, was immediately taken to B and C Hospital in Birtamod, Jhapa, for further treatment.
Samir Khati, 19, the driver of the Bolero, has been arrested by the police. The Panchthar District Police Office said it is conducting further investigations into the incident.
