A 23-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel room in Banepa, Kavre, on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Sharmila Shrestha, a resident of Sudol, Banepa Municipality-6.

According to Police Inspector Dinesh Bahadur Kunwar of the District Police Office, Kavre, Shrestha's body was discovered in room number 115 of Hotel View and Pahuna Ghar, located in Banepa Municipality-8. "She was found dead in the room," Inspector Kunwar told Nepalkhabar. "We are currently carrying out investigations into the case."

A man from Ramechhap, who was seen entering the room with the woman, reportedly left the premises approximately 25 minutes before the body was discovered. "The man has fled and we are searching for him," Inspector Kunwar stated, without divulging the man's name.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Shrestha's death, including whether it was a homicide. "We are still investigating. The cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem," said Inspector Kunwar. "It is early to say whether it is a murder right away. The man who was with her is absconding, having left the room shortly before she was found dead."

Locals have said that the deceased used to work at a medical facility in Banepa, but police have yet to confirm this information. The investigation is ongoing.
