Three international flights bound for Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu were diverted due to poor visibility on Friday. The affected flights include those operated by Nepal Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and Qatar Airways.
According to airport officials, the Nepal Airlines flight arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was diverted to New Delhi, India. The Sichuan Airlines flight from Chengdu Tianfu, China, was redirected to Lhasa, Tibet, while the Qatar Airways flight from Doha, Qatar, landed in Kolkata, India.
Despite the diversions, six other flights managed to land at TIA. These included flights from Himalaya Airlines, Air India, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and China Southern Airlines.
Airport authorities continue to monitor the weather conditions and advise passengers to check with their respective airlines for updates on flight schedules.
