A flame of fire has erupted from a borehole dug for water at Tikathali in Lalitpur on Tuesday morning.
Efforts are underway to extinguish the fire, which flared up at the location where the pipe was inserted for the borehole, according to SSP Shyam Krishna Adhikari, Chief of the Lalitpur Police Complex.
Despite attempts to extinguish the fire with water, it has not been put out. The borehole drilling work has also been halted after the flame gushed out of the pipe insertion point. The fire erupted after around 900 feet of drilling had been completed.
"The borehole drilling had started at the site since the second week of February," SSP Adhikari told Nepalkhabar. "The work was halted after the flame gushed out at around 9:30 AM this morning."
A team of security personnel and officials from Lalitpur Metropolitan City have arrived at the scene, according to SP Narahari Regmi, spokesperson for the Lalitpur Police Range Office.
Police have stated that there is no immediate danger to local houses as they are located some distance away from the incident site.
