CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has warned monarchists stating that their anti-republican activities will have serious consequences.
In a special address to the parliament meeting on Tuesday, Prachanda suggested reading the history of democracy.
"History is becoming cruel again, people’s blood has been shed for the republic. Read the history of the revolution," Prachanda said, "Democracy and monarchy cannot be compared. I strongly oppose the concept of monarchy."
Referring to the royalist party RPP in parliament, he said, "I want to challenge those who seek to turn the wheel of history backward."
