Ncell NSL Season 3 begins with thrilling draw

The much-anticipated third season of the Ncell Nepal Super League (NSL) kicked off today with a grand opening ceremony at Dasharath Stadium.

The first match between Lalitpur City FC and Kathmandu Rayzrs FC ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Popular singer Durgesh Thapa rocked the crowd with a live performance during the opening ceremony of the tournament. Kathmandu Rayzrs FC’s Vincent Koziello was named the ‘Ncell Valuable Player of the Match,’ receiving a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and a Rs 5,000 recharge voucher.

Seven teams -- Butwal Lumbini FC, Dhangadhi FC, FC Chitwan, Jhapa FC, Kathmandu Rayzrs FC, Lalitpur City FC, and Pokhara Thunders FC -- will compete in 34 matches this season, with the final scheduled for April 16.

Ncell, the title sponsor, also partnered with Lalitpur City FC as the ‘Powered By’ sponsor. Umair Mohsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Ncell, said, “Our collaboration reflects Ncell’s passion for sports. Through NSL, we aim to support Nepali footballers and foster the sport’s growth. Fans can look forward to exciting offers soon.”

Ncell’s involvement underscores its commitment to sports development in Nepal, having previously supported cricket, volleyball, golf, and para-athletes through its CSR initiatives. The league promises an action-packed season for football enthusiasts nationwide.

The next match between Butwal Lumbini FC and Jhapa FC will take place on Sunday at 6 PM.
