Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is embarking on an official visit to Thailand today at the cordail invitation of Thai Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
During this visit, PM Oli will also participate in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit being held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
Before departing for Thailand, Prime Minister Oli will address a press meeting to be organized at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister's Secretariat has said.
PM Oli’s delegation will depart for Bangkok at 1:30 PM via a flight of Thai Airways, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
PM Oli stated that this is the first diplomatic visit to Thailand by a Nepali executive head. He remarked, "I believe this visit is significant in itself."
He informed that an official meeting with the King of Thailand is scheduled for April 2. Similarly, he mentioned in Parliament on Monday that he will also hold talks with the Thai Prime Minister.
"Two agreements will be signed. After bilateral discussions, I will participate in a joint press meet," he said.
During his visit to Thailand, the Prime Minister will address the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
During the visit, Prime Minister Oli will provide a grant of USD 100,000 to AIT on behalf of the Nepal government, as informed by Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung. The cabinet meeting held on Monday evening took a decision to this effect.
PM's visit schedule:
PM Oli’s official visit to Thailand will begin on April 2. During the visit, bilateral talks at the Prime Ministerial level will be held, and two agreements on tourism and culture, along with six MoUs between private sectors, will be signed.
Following bilateral talks, PM Oli will participate in a joint press briefing with Thai PM Shinawatra and then meet the King of Thailand, Vajiralongkorn.
On April 3, PM Oli will interact with prominent Thai businesspersons. Later in the afternoon, he will address a program organized by the Asian Institute of Technology in the morning.
In the evening of the same day, PM Oli will attend a dinner hosted for BIMSTEC Summit leaders.
On April 4, PM Oli will deliver a speech at the BIMSTEC Summit.
On the same day, he will attend the signing ceremony of the Maritime Transport Cooperation Agreement. Later in the evening, he will participate in an event at the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok.
The delegation led by PM Oli will return home on April 5.
