Two people, including the driver, died in a jeep accident that occurred in Malarani Rural Municipality-3, Dhungade, in Arghakhanchi, on Saturday night.

The accident occurred around midnight on the inner road section between Lutipokhari and Khandaha.

The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Dilip Khanal, the driver of the jeep, and 21-year-old Balkrishna Rijal of Malarani-4.

Two others—17-year-old Bhuwan Pokhrel and 17-year-old Basanta Pokharel—were injured, according to Police Inspector Jagannath Adhikari of the District Police Office, Arghakhanchi.

Inspector Adhikari informed Nepalkhabar that the accident occurred around 12 AM, but police were only informed at 3:30 AM due to the area's remoteness.

"There are no houses nearby, and even the Malarani Rural Municipality office, which is close to the accident site, remains unstaffed at night," he explained.

The accident involved a single-cab jeep (Lu 2 Cha 2990) traveling from Lutipokhari (Malarani-3) to Khandaha (Malarani-4). The vehicle fell some 200 meters down from the road.

Acting on a tip-off, a seven-member police team led by Inspector Jagannath Marasini from the Area Police Office, Khan had reached the scene.

Khanal and Rijal were declared dead upon arrival at Sandhikharka District Hospital, while the two injured were referred to Butwal for further treatment.
